Chocolat: Set in an elegant, snowy, French village, I drooled whenever Juliette Binoche whipped up some chocolate, especially when she tops a steaming cup with some chili. Johnny Depp as a gypsy, was also delicious.
Julie/Julia: Perhaps an obvious choice, but when Amy Adams made those giant, fresh, colourful bruschettas…I had to drop by my local bar afterwards to fulfill my craving.
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle: A road trip to find the perfect burger is my kind of road trip! Just like Harold and Kumar, I also craved those fast food sliders after watching this surprisingly entertaining movie.
Sideways: When Virgina Madsen describes her love of wine, I fall in love with wine all over again and always vow to broaden my vino education.
“I do like to think about the life of wine, how it’s a living thing. I like to think about what was going on the year the grapes were growing, how the sun was shining that summer or if it rained…what the weather was like. I think about all those people who tended and picked the grapes, and if it’s an old wine, how many of them must be dead by now. I love how wine continues to evolve, how every time I open a bottle it’s going to taste different than if I had opened it on any other day. Because a bottle of wine is actually alive—it’s constantly evolving and gaining complexity. That is, until it peaks—like your ’61—and begins its steady, inevitable decline. And it tastes so fucking good.”
Goodfellas: Who else tried to slice garlic with a razor after watching this scene? It was a crime to whip up such a big hearty meal and leave the rest of us drooling off screen.
Benny and Joon: Whether Johnny Depp is mashing potatoes with a tennis racket, grilling cheese with an iron or make buns dance…he could have been a Food Jammer! A man who irons and makes food? That’s hot!
Day of the Dead: Think zombies just want your brains? Guess again, they love intestines too! When this film came out – the intestine scene became a classic. Intestttinnnness….doesn’t have the same ring as braaainnnns though.
